Well Folks.. Nationals has come and gone! Alot of Great Tennis...Comraderie..Competition...Drama...Great Food! Dancing! Dancing! Dancing!
Marilyn and I managed to win our first Nationals match against Southern Cal..in a nail break tie break.. in fact... our whole team won that match... lost in the afternoon to Minnasota... but GREAT effort! Sat. morning we played Seattle.. WoW! They were amazing!
We managed to go to a tie break in the first set and then get slaughtered in the 2nd 0-6!
We knew we were out of the whole thing pretty much so we mixed it up and switched partners.. we played the Carribeans.. that was perhaps the most irritating match of the weekend.. they didnt speak English.. couldn't keep score.. very windy... I had to complain to the official... who was an idiot! Whatever! We lost! :( .. HOWEVER! The last and final match played on Court 1... my partner Marilyn and another gal Keeley won their match in a nail biter tie break... YOU would have thought we WON the US Open... GREAT CLOSURE for the weekend to end on a WIN against such a good team! That night was a GREAT Party for all the teams from all over the country! Our team had SO MUCH FUN together.. Northern California won the National Title! It was a wild ride this weekend.. I will never forget it.. I loved it! I hope I have this opportunity again... I have the best tennis team in the world! I have so many wonderful pictures... and tho I didnt have the claim to fame of winning Nationals '08... a big trophy etc.. more importantly I had the opportunity to play under the direction of one of the finest women I think I know.. Jane Toriello!

Oh....my opponent from the Caribbean (Puerto Rico) was so nice and YOUNG!! Good times - I take it Larry finally found you! HA!! Hope your foot is feeling okay!! You are a warrior!!
Congratulations Robin! It was fun to watch you play, you were great. I wish I could have stayed to see the win. It is inspiring to watch and hear how much you enjoy it!
