Good morning...

I am pretty sure my hair looks perfect most of the time except....... for in the morning... haha!
This is what Larry wakes up to every morning.. lovely, huh? Hey... there are a lot of products in that hair of mine.. anyway.. thought I would give you a laugh! Did it work?
Today was fun... my tennis partner Marilyn and I met at Wildflowers to discuss our strategy for this weekends upcoming match... we decided we had none but we enjoyed lunch. I learned how to eat grilled artichoke dipped in a garlic sauce... yummmmmmmmy! Then I returned to the humdrum life of never ending errands.. I should be an errand girl.. I do it so well... post office.. groceries.. bank deposits.. wa wa water girl for the office..etc... I am home just in time to go to tennis this evening and it looks great outside.. no monsoons tonight.. does it get any better?

A Great Weekend at the Shipleys....

What a wonderful weekend we shared as
a family... golf, lunch, shopping, swimming, watching a movie... As much as I love tennis.. my most

favorite thing is when my grown children are all together and enjoying one another in various activities.. I can only imagine when the grandchildren come..(hint,hint!) :) Scott had friends over Sat. night.. they were not able to swim in the rain but they sat around the firepit...Becky and Kristen were being funny pulling their hair forward in the water and then backwards to look like George Washingtons time.. remember doing that when you were little..? they also enjoyed handstand contests.. just like old times.. Today is a very important day in Scott's life.. he recieved the Melchezidick Priesthood. We have such awesome leaders in our Ward.. and a GREAT Bishop... all who have been instrumental in Scott's life.. I am very grateful for their love and concern for the Shipleys.. It has been mentally exhausting today but I have been waiting 18 years to witness this great occassion. I took a mental picture today that I will have forever etched in my mind. I missed Alexis today.. she would be very proud of her little brother. :) We will not all be together for another 3 years..:(
What a reunion that will be!!! :)
P.S. Stephanie... I finally found your adorable daughter in church today and took our picture... she was a good sport... didnt remember me... but I remember how special and loved she was when you had her... and the first time you brought your new little baby to church.. 11 years ago... glad I got to see you Julie.. :) hope you had a nice time in Tucson!

GRRRRRRRRRRRR.......

Only 1 week to go until our Sectionals.... I broke in my new shoes today.. my tennis partner Marilyn is back.. we won 1 set 6-2, lost 4-6, lost the tie break... but it was excellent tennis.. that is all you can ask for... great competition! :) Wow... It was pretty humid... next Friday ... I am playing at 7 a.m. and then another game at 10 a.m. at the El Conquistador... we are playing against a team from Prescott... hopefully the heat will affect their game... if not we will just have to take them out!!! It was nice to escape the carpet situation but I am home now... the fans are still blowing.. better get to work...looking forward to having my kids come down for the weekend.... and Scott ordained as an Elder. :)

What a day!

After running 2 miles on the treadmill.. I decided to take a break.. good thing I did... only to find the washing machine went awry and flooded most of the house... what a disaster! I couldn't even think where to begin.... called Larry.. he came home from work.. mopping and wet vac./carpet cleaners... laudromat... fans blowing everywhere...Larry looks exhausted... poor guy... I am so thankful for all of his help and how calm he can be while I am having a melt down... I think we have it under control... the good news is that we have a warrenty for the washing machine...the bad news is they can't come until Monday... everything had to be moved.. Larry and I are going to have to sleep in the guest room tonight.. ughhhhhhh.... we will actually be touching each others feet and hairy legs... (Larrys) :)... ...maybe we will sleep in the other guest room... it has twin beds ... we could be like Rob and Laura Petry... Scott got the computer up and going.. conveniently in his room... yey, wireless! He thought he would be cute and downloaded this screen saver.. Larry and I had to laugh.. it depicts how we felt today...at any rate.. I have a sign in my laundrey room that says it all! Tomorrow is a NEW day.. I play tennis at 8 a.m. and my tennis partner Marilyn is finally back.. hooray!

Hey.... that was President Bush!

Scott waited patiently on Friday morning Oracle and First Ave. to see President Bush drive by on his way to a fund-raiser in the Foothills.... as you can see ... he was able to video the black limo with the President waving. (Scott said the President waved at him!) :) Scott is excited to be able to vote in November. I am glad that he recognizes what a privilege it is to vote in this GREAT country that we live in.
Today, Kristen and I played tennis and went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.. I had to come home and walk 3 miles on the treadmill to offset what we ate... saw Batman last night.. frightenning movie.. GREAT! Creepy! Going to see Mama Mia tonight.. it is a beautiful day out today!

The State of AZ vs. Sis. Alexis K. Shipley

I WON! I WON!I WON!I WON! I WON! I WON! I WON! I WON! I WON! I WON! I WON!
I had a pretty exciting day today in court... first I had to deal with the anxiety of finding the courthouse... parking.. walking around in downtown Tucson (scary).. got thru that... found the courthouse...courtroom etc.. I had to go in behalf of Alexis for a traffic violation (photo radar) that she had received before she left on a mission... and since she wasnt here to recieve the ticket... I thought it would be a simple thing as of me going down there and taking care of it..
I am sure the judge was quite amused with me.. as I presented exhibit A..B.. and C. After a few minutes.. I had the judge eatting out of the palm of my hands..... hahahaha! In fairness to him.. not many can resist the charm of Robin Shipley... once you are under my spell...all I can say is if anyone out there needs an attourney... you can call my number.. 1-800-IWILLWIN!haha!

On a serious note... I am really grateful for this blessing. :)

Polka Dots!

Larry and I have a bed that is difficult to find sheets for... I always have my eye out for X long twin sheet sets... and today while Kristen and I were shopping.... I found some adorable sheets.. Kristen didn't think her dad would go for the pink/brown polka dots (that I fell in love with... right there on the spot!) so.... we decided it would be fun to get him his own polka dot sheets.... except in blues, and lavendars...  so, I just washed/dried them and they look adorable even tho they aren't matching like most beds... it's fun... and who said your sheets have to match???
Thanks for your help Kristen :).

Tennis... the Game of LOVE!

I felt like a mom dropping her daughter off at kindergarten for the first day... Kristen took a brave step forward and joined a beginners tennis league at the El Conquistador.. I am in another league but was playing on the next court over and couldn't help being distracted by keeping my eye on her... she did GREAT! I am going to look forward to Tuesdays nights even more now than ever... Robin is at home icing her side... from a pulled muscle last week that has gotten progressively worse.. owwwwwwwww... all in all ... alot of fun.

Breakfast at Paradise Cafe...

A Bloggers nightmare occurred yesterday morning.... I brought my camera to breakfast..only to discover the batteries were dead.. luckily, there was the nicest gal who volunteered to take our picture and e-mail it to me... and here it is.. aren't we cute? After getting rained out Friday morning.... Linda and I went to breakfast at Paradise Cafe.. and then I played tennis against my sister-in-law.. only to lose the first 2 sets 3-6,0-6 and then WIN 6-4.. I think she felt badly for me.. I was beginning to get that feeling of throwing my raquet again. I was dying from the humidity and plus the fact she is a better player than I.. one of these days tho.. I am 6 years younger.. hahaha! Also, we went with Jeff and Doreen Struthers to see the movie Journey to the center of the earth.. I LOVED It! Only one thing I will tell you.. make sure you are going to the 3-D version.. we didnt and it was still excellent but I would rather have seen it 3-D.. it was so fun!

Driving Miss Daisy...

What a great morning for 18 holes of golf... as you can see how Larry spent
most of his morning retrieving Robin's golfballs.. Larry and I enjoy golfing together even tho he is way better... but I love to drive the cart and eat cheetos...and of course a diet coke. I was going to play tennis tonight but once again the monsoons have struck...ughhhh... frustrating.. I am excited to play singles with my sister in law Susie tomorro morning..she is really good but I am going to give her a run for her money... we played doubles at clinic the other day and did great against the rest of the team...it was hard to quit laughing... they all really wanted to knock us off the court.. it's tough when you are playing the Shipley Sisterzzzzz!!! I am so stoked about our upcoming sectionals... and want my tennis partner Marilyn (if you are reading this) COME HOME! :)

So...now I guess we have to go to Frost (Robin's favorite) to use a
birthday gift card from Scott's girlfriend Caitlin... yummmmmm.... italian choc.chip and tiramasue!
All in all a fun filled today... gosh, I cant wait to wake up tomorro.. it is the
weekend and there are some good movies coming out!

4th of July 2008

Kristen said "this was one of the Best 4th of Julys ever!" It was a GREAT day for the Shipley family! It started at picking up Bagels at 6 a.m., having a flag raising ceremony at the church, golf and tennnis, BBQ with family and friends... swimming... Wimbleton (Tivo)...then off to an amazing firework display at Saddlebrook Country Club... where it was cooler.. on the golf course.. strawberry home made icecream, choco-dipped licorice (family tradition) with good friends Doug and Rozanne.
We realized that this would be our last 4th of July celebration with Scott before his mission... maybe his last one for 2 years or maybe not.. it depends on where Heavenly Father will send him.
Yesterday was Robin's last day of 45 years.. all in all ... a very good year!
I am grateful to be an American and enjoy the blessing of the Gospel. I am blessed with a good family and some really great friends!
Happy 4th of July from the Shipleys!
